Namur: Opening of the New Casernes - Palais de Justice car park

24/06/2024

The new Casernes - Palais de Justice car park, located on the site of the former Léopold barracks, opened its doors on June 24th. This parking facility represents an important step in the Novia urban redevelopment program.

Modern and Accessible Facilities

Equipped with 265 parking spaces accessible to the public (with additional spaces reserved for apartment residents), the Casernes - Palais de Justice car park spans two levels. To meet the needs of today's users, it features modern amenities such as 20 charging stations for electric vehicles and 5 spaces specially designed for people with reduced mobility, ensuring optimal accessibility for everyone.

A Key Element of the Novia Urban Redevelopment Project

This new car park is part of the Novia urban redevelopment project, which aims to transform the historic site of the former Léopold barracks into a multifunctional activity hub. Already, apartments, an African art museum, a library, and a market hall have been established on the site, contributing to the creation of an attractive and dynamic living environment.

Addressing a Crucial Need

This new parking site meets a real need for parking and will facilitate access to this rapidly developing area with the upcoming opening of the new Palais de Justice of Namur (a modern complex of 16,000 m² bringing together all Namur jurisdictions) and the presence of Cav&Ma, the largest classical music hall in Europe.
